Dry ice grit blasting
This particular method is being applied only by BalkanBlast in Greece.
This method of dry ice mixed with abrasive media has the capability of cleaning metal surfaces from coatings, heavy oxidation, etc., preserving the same results on the metallic purity level as the common sandblasting, BS4232 based to British Standard, Sa21/2 based to Swedish Standard, and SP10 based to SSPC Codes SSPC. The low temperature of dry ice when combined with the hardness of the abrasive media offers deep cleaning without affecting the thickness/dimension ratio of the metal surface, without creating roughness on the metal surface and with minimal secondary waste. This method of cleaning can be applied in external places such as ports (cranes, metallic meshes, etc.), oil platforms, confined spaces (tanks, boilers, etc.) rotors/turbines and steam components of power plant units, metal welding for crack testing, where the common sandblasting is prohibited due to the dust creation and the huge amounts of residues.
We can use the dry ice grit blasting for:
- Rust removal, paint stripping, graffiti removal…
- Stubborn material removal.
- Surface roughening before painting , coating…
- It can be used to clean buildings, infrastructure and other objects of different nature (wood, metal, stone etc.) that require an abrasive touch.
